————————————————————-
Not necessarily of an illness, but most generally of a discomfort, it is often a symptom that initiates our working on ourselves in depth. The alchemy of a symptom introduces us to an in-depth psycho-spiritual understanding of life. Turning on the inwards represents an opportunity for a qualitative transformation of consciousness and the birth of a sacred space within which an individual image of god can eventually emerge. This is always a unique and original process of individuation, which has individual characteristics for each of us.
Theory: First, we will look at the basic dimensions of the symptom – spiritual symptoms, which are characterised by the loss of the personal spirit, psychological symptoms, which are related to excessive connection, thinking symptoms, which are related to prejudices and compulsive thoughts, and physical symptoms, which are generally in connection to the need to let go.
Practice: We will work with the techniques of psychoanalysis and active imagination, acknowledging the spiritual dimension of the individual cosmogram (birth chart) and connecting the acquired knowledge to the daily life of each of the participants. In order to be better able to ground and practically apply the acquired knowledge, we will also include the technique of drawing images, as well as their material-physical representation through the formation of plastic material. In this way, we will put together a whole, with the help of which we will form a new understanding of a symptom so that at the end of the summer school we are going to be able to return to our everyday lives with some new realisations and enhanced knowledge about ourselves.

Ddr. Matjaž L. Regovec, holds doctorates in psychology and philosophy. Trained and qualified originally as a Jungian, he is nowadays an independent psychoanalyst at the IPAL Institute. Having been working as a psychoanalyst and a psychotherapist for 30 years now, he also offers some individual consultations with the IPAL Method. He is the author of numerous books in Slovenian, Serbian, Hungarian, Russian and English language. He lectures and holds workshops worldwide.
Matjaž works best directly under the Sun, and his third-house Saturn in Pisces draws him next to the sea, on the island of Crete, where he wrote some of his recent books. He enjoys cooking, the art of horticulture and travelling, exploring different cultures, their ancient history, religion and other historical facets of human spirit and cosmological heritage. He understands alchemy and symbolic cosmology as a means and inspiration for the integration of the divide between mind on one hand, and body-psyche-spirit dimensions of man on the other. The very same processes that once upon a time were identified on the alchemical stove, may nowadays be usefully applied in working upon oneself in order to enhance one’s quality of life and well-being.
